ColourPop Matte Lip || REVIEW

I know I haven't reviewed a beauty product on here in a little while.  Forgive me!  Lord knows I'm still buying left and right so I really have no excuse.  Well, I'm back reviewing a goodie at least... The uber popular Colour Pop Matte Liquid Lipsticks!  These things are all over the 'Gram and it's no wonder at just $6 a pop (see what I just did there? LOL), they're an easy buy.  In fact, ColourPop has come to town and shut it down with their reasonable pricing ranging from $5-$9 for individual products.  Not to mention, there is always a coupon code floating around somewhere!

For only $6, it's pretty hard to not be worth the price tag!  The packaging alone made me feel like it was worth the few dollars.  They sport similar packaging to other liquid lipsticks out there such as Anastasia Beverly Hills and Kat Von D but at a fraction of that cost.  Let's get into wear and quality though.  Application was not the easiest as these type of lip products do not go on as evenly as regular lipsticks.  You have to be very careful to apply exactly the same of amount swipes over each section of your lip.  It is also very important to let each coat/layer dry before applying another.  This only takes about 30 seconds.  As for wear, it is definitely long wearing as long as you don't eat anything that contains grease/oil.  The color lasted hours while I drank coffee, water, ate some snacks and had some fruit but it was half gone after I consumed my fries and burger from Five Guys!  Even removing with a makeup wipe wasn't the easiest task so once it goes on, it's pretty much there to stay.

Bottom line, I'm buying more.  LOL.  I think that tells you whether or not I think they're worth it!  Below are swatches of the (4) shades I've purchased so far: Lax, Trap, Creeper and Zipper.  Any of you ColourPop fans?!  What have you purchased so far and what do you currently have on your wishlist?

BTS x MCS || Quick Meal Ideas

If there is one thing I have mastered, it's the Quick & Easy Weekday Meal.  There was a time (this was actually pretty recent) where both my husband and I worked Full Time Corporate jobs outside of the home.  We wouldn't get home until 6PM which meant we needed to settle in, check homework, make dinner, eat dinner, do bath time and have personal time in about 4 hours.  If you're not careful dinner prep can take up about 50% of this time leaving you feeling rushed and unhappy with what you've accomplished.  No worries, I've found the solution to this problem.

ALL-IN-ONE-MEALS.  I'm not suggesting you take your fridge and throw it in a pot.  Although, this wouldn't be all that bad if you have the right ingredients in your fridge.  More so, I'm referring to meals that allow you to include most of the major food groups easily into your dinner.  Think.. Turkey Chili, Chicken Pot Pie, Chicken Tacos, Meatloaf and Veggies.  Stop trying to cook 4 separate dishes for ONE dinner.  Stop. It. Now.  Weekday dinners should be healthy and fulfilling.  You do NOT need to make a Thanksgiving Feast every night.  Another hit is when you can match a meal with the corresponding weekday for a real cute and festive idea such as Taco Tuesday, No Meat Monday, Whatever You Want Wednesday (this is a free for all, one of my faves), and Fish Fry Friday.  The kids LOVE these type of Meal Plans and it's super easy to plan in advance.

Now I have shared some really easy Meal Ideas that are my family faves.  I am not a fan of cooking a dinner for the adults and one for the children.  If the recipe calls for an advance ingredient, like Blue Cheese, that I know the kids wouldn't like I just hold those particular ingredients to the side from their plates.  While I do find it important to expand their palettes, I'm not trying to have them at the table for an hour because they're dreading eating their dinner.  So, enjoy the recipes and tag me in your posts if you decide to try them, #MCSintheKitchen.

This year I wanted to share how I go about getting my family ready to go back to school.  We have three whole children in my family and this is the first year that all three will be in school (Kennedy starts Kindergarten).  Preparing your home for one child is difficult enough, but I figured as a Mom of three there are a few things that I can share to help ease the stress. This BTS x MCS Series will provide major tips that will definitely get you on the road to success.  I'm not saying you will get the exact address and house number, but you will at least be on the right road, LOL.

Today I wanted to stress how important Organizing your home for the beginning of the school year is.  This includes everything from cleaning your actual house to outfit planning for the week.  By organizing, you are subconsciously getting your children in an organized state of mind for school.  The best students are usually very organized and having things in order sets them up for success.  So, get to cleaning!  I'm talking about clean your house like you're Spring cleaning.  The best time to do this is when your kids are away.  Do they go visit the Grandparents in the summer?  Or away to camp?  Shoot, if you're just able to have a friend watch them for 24 hours then do that!  But you need a day to thoroughly clean your house.  For me, that means everything from dusting and laundry down to sorting through clothes that are too small and cleaning the carpets.  When your child walks through that door, they should sense a shift has happened.  The conversion from laid back summer time chilling to an organized and structured home should be CLEAR.  Crystal.

Next up, let's get those closets together.  My absolute favorite closet organization item are the hanging shelves.  They come with five cubby spots for the five days of the weeks and can be purchased here.  These items are SUPER timesavers during the school year.  We pick out ensembles for the week on Sunday and place them in the appropriate Monday-Friday cubby.  I kid you not when I say this can save you like 30-40 minutes daily.  Have you ever seen a sleepy kid try to pick out clothes at 6:30 AM?! Yeah, it usually takes about 4 tries for them to get it right and even then it's not totally together but you're just so fed up.  Do yourself a favor and get you one of these organizers.

Lastly, I will share how my family organizes daily activities.  We tried the official family calendar thing.  It didn't work.  We failed.  And, we don't like being failures so we found a solution.  What works for us is a dry erase board.  Plain and simple.  I list the days of the week vertically and then I will jot down activities planned for each day with corresponding time.  It is no fuss, easy peasy and best of all, it WORKS for us.  It is hung close to the door where the kids get their shoes on so, it's visible both coming and going.  If it's effective and it's simple then it works for our family.  There are better options like Dry Erase Boards that actually have Calendars on them so just do your research and see what works best for you.  One word of advice... Don't go with what looks good or what works for that Mommy Blogger you follow on Instagram.  Choose an option that really works for YOUR family.

These are just a few ways that I get things in order for the school season.  Whatever you choose to take from this post, just keep in mind that starting the year off organized will get everyone off on the right track.  As a parent you won't be so stressed or anxious and for your children, they will be on their game anticipating success for the week.  So Moms, what are some of your must-have organization tips?!  This is the perfect time of year to share!!  Come back on Wednesday for the next Topic in the BTS x MCS Series: Quick Meals.

TGIN Moist Collection for Natural Hair

Last week TGIN was super sweet and sent over their entire collection to the MyCandiShoppe HQ for review.  Well, I tested and used them then used them again so that I can bring you guys a complete review of each product.  I'm sure you have seen these products all over and may have a question or two.  Just keep scrolling down, read my thorough review and hopefully those questions will be answered.

I am always hesitant to test shampoos because I just don't know how my hair will react.  I've tried so many shampoos that have made my hair hard or completely stripped it of everything.  So, Cowashes are my thing.  I gave this shampoo a go anyways so that I could try out the entire line and see how everything worked together.  Well, I'm glad I did because this product actually left my hair SOFT!  I did still get that super clean feel that is inevitable with shampoos but it left my hair manageable.

You guys know I'm a stickler for slip when it comes to Conditioner.  My coils are super tight so I need Conditioners with a great deal of slip for detangling purposes.  The Triple Moisture Conditioner passed the test!  As soon as I applied it, my hair just felt like butter and any kinks just melted away.  Detangling was a breeze!  I was actually surprised by how well it worked for me because it's a pretty lightweight Conditioner but it worked just as good, if not better, than the thicker options out there.

OH. EM. GEE. I should just start this review by stating you NEED this product like yesterday.  If you are a fan of thicker Conditioners, then you may want to grab this instead of the Replenishing Conditioner.  The slip is freaking AMAZING for a Hair Mask... Shoot, it's amazing for any Conditioner really.  What I really love about this product is that your hair still feels just as soft once you rinse the Hair Mask off! I can't say that about every good Conditioner out there.

I couldn't really decide if this was my favorite product or the Hair Mask.  That was until I used this as my base for a Wash & Go.  This is hands my favorite product from the line now.  Using this as a "Leave-In" option when styling my Wash & Go worked really well for me and left my hair SO moisturized, soft and shiny.  The fact that I can use this product no matter what style I'm doing is a HUGE plus.  This is another product from the line that is lightweight, thus making it a great option when layering products.

This Cream is the perfect compliment to the rest of the collection.  The product is lightweight yet provides a great deal of long term moisture.  As you can see, that is the running theme in this collection... Lightweight and Moisturizing. LOL.  I did find it to be bit tacky but I have yet to try any Twisting Cream that didn't have a bit of tackiness.  This provides your hair with the hold needed for that amazing definition but since it's lightweight you won't be left with weighed down hair.

You ever try a hair product that smelled so good you wished you could slather it all over your body?  But, then realized applying a leave-in conditioner all over your body wouldn't be such a great idea?  LOL.  Well TGIN has you covered with this Serum.  This oil smells exactly like the other products in the line... AMAZING. But, you ARE able to slather this all over your body if you want.  To top it off, you can also use it in your hair!  This product is genius and seriously, all hair brands with products that smell super yummy need to do this.  The one thing I would change is switching this product to a spray bottle.  It would make for a much easier application.

So, these are the products I used when testing out the line in it's entirety.  I can't say I have anything bad to say about any of it!  Prior to receiving these products, I didn't have any TGIN hair products but I now have (2) more Hair Masks and Daily Moisturizers ordered and their way to me as back-ups.  Yeah, it's that serious at this point.  LOL.  If you're interested in trying any of these products out for yourself, you can find them at Target, Amazon, Local Beauty Supply Stores or on the TGIN website here.  If you are purchasing from the TGIN website, use my PROMO CODE: TGINCANDI to receive additional savings!  And, don't forget to tell me what you think of the products once you try them out for yourself!!

Curls Girls Rule the World

Recently, I decided to leave my 6+ year career in Hotel Sales to pursuit my passion in Blogging and Content Creating for MyCandiShoppe.  This was a decision that took some time to come to with my husband but we knew it was inevitable.  I can't say we were even the best prepared for me to resign when I did but I had come to a breaking point.  Miserable doesn't even begin to describe how I felt having to go work a job that I had no interest in and was totally draining.  It was beginning to take a major toll on me mentally and effect my family at home.  My heart was in MyCandiShoppe and I knew with total dedication I could eventually make the same income (if not more).
One night, my husband and I sat down to look over our finances and determine if his income solely could support the family (if need be).  To our surprise, we had quite a bit of wiggle room!  And, once we actually made a budget for food and bills things looked even better.  You see we were living a lifestyle that utilized ALL of our means because we didn't find it necessary to cut costs at the time.  After taking a closer look at the bigger picture, it was very clear that God had made this transition possible for us a long time ago!

I encourage others to take a look at your life... Is it the life you want to be living?  Is God providing you with an alternative option that you may be ignoring?  Yes, you may not be able to get all the things you 'want' but I guarantee God will give you everything you 'need'.  I hope my story can inspire others to pursuit their dreams, lean on God and live with purpose.

#MCSintheKitchen: Stuffed Eggplant

This afternoon I decided to take a break from all the heavy, delicious, super savory meals I've been making and go for something a bit healthier (but still yum).  I had an idea for Stuffed Peppers but didn't feel that would really fill me or satisfy my lunch hunger so decided to opt for Stuffed Eggplant.  This recipe is so simple and delicious that I felt the NEED to share with you guys.  Hopefully, you were able to catch my live demonstration on Periscope (August 12, 2015 7:30PM EST) where I show how to put it all together.  If not, the recipe is below and I promise you it's super easy to make.

1- Medium Sized Eggplant
1/2 lb- Ground Turkey
1/2- Yellow Onion (chopped)
1 tspn- Minced Garlic
1 cup- Mushroom of choice (chopped
1 cup- Shredded Mozzarella Cheese (or your choice of cheese)
1/2 cup- Bread Crumbs

Seasonings: Salt, Pepper, Cumin (use at your discretion to your liking)

Take (1) teaspoon of Olive Oil and heat in a skillet on medium heat.  Add chopped onion and garlic to oil once heated.  Cook onion and garlic until onion is translucent then add Ground Turkey.  Season mixture with Salt, Pepper and Cumin to your preference.  Remove Ground Turkey mixture once cooked thoroughly.  Add chopped mushrooms to the same skillet, using the leftover juices to cook mushrooms.  Feel free to add an additional drop (or 3 lol) of Olive Oil if skillet seems too dry.  Remove cooked mushrooms from skillet and add to Ground Turkey mixture.  Add Bread Crumbs and 1/2 cup of Mozzarella to Ground Turkey and Mushroom mixture.  Mix thoroughly.
Halve your Eggplant and scoop out the insides then sprinkle generously with salt and pepper.  Set the Eggplant in a baking dish and load with filling.  Bake on 425 for 25-30 minutes.  Remove, Serve and Enjoy!

#ManiMonday: Illamasqua Stance

If you caught one of my recent Scopes then you know I am obsessed with Berry lip shades.  Well the same actually goes for my nails.  I can't tell you how many Berry nail lacquers I have in my stash!  They are all pretty much the same shade (slightly different variations), just different brands. LOL  Once I find a shade that really works for me or really looks amazing on against my skintone, I usually stick with it.  In previous years, that color was Chartreuse and now it's all things Berry.

This particular shade, Stance, is from the cosmetic brand Illamasqua!  They have any amazing quality and smoothness about them.  Best of all, the applicator brush is perfection.  For some reason I only have (2) shades from Illamasqua but I really need to get more because I never have an issue applying this lacquer like I can and do with other brands.  It's like a fool proof nail lacquer!  Unfortunately, Sephora no longer sells this brand and I can only locate it on Illamasqua's official website here.  If you do happen to know of a US store that sells it still, please let us know below.  Otherwise, I will provide other Berry options over the next couple of weeks.

Shoppe Faves Friday: Periscope

Periscope has quickly become an addiction in my household.  Of course, when I first took interest everyone else wanted nothing to do with it.  My husband tried to stay as far as he could so as not to be included.  My sister down in Atlanta didn't have much memory left on her phone and didn't feel Periscope deserved the space. LOL.  Yet, each one of them after just one Scope was hooked.  My husband swears he has fans now and my sister believes she's a Star on my Scope.  It really doesn't take much to get sucked in quick.  If you're not careful you will spend your whole day on there and get absolutely nothing done in your real life.  I've done my fair share of time on Periscope and already have some favorite "Scopers" that I try to tune into daily (or whenever they're on).  So, this week I am sharing my current favorite Bloggers/Personalities on Periscope.

Mattie is a Blogger (fashion if you need to classify) who knows how to have a well rounded Periscope account.  You can catch her in the morning as she's getting off to her day or even well after her day has begun for some 'Tea with Mattie'.  Then about midday she may come back on for some Blogging Tips and taking notes is highly suggested (by me lol).  Towards the end of the day you can catch Mattie preparing for her little family to come home. Sometimes she may be making dinner, or grabbing dinner or just winding down from her work day.  I just love her personality and how she addresses content clearly in a very down to earth manner.

Ty Alexander is off the chain.  She has a Beauty Blog,, that I started following long long ago. She's been one of my favorite Beauty Bloggers on IG for a while now but she COMPLETELY and TOTALLY won me over on Periscope.  Her personality is on 100 and I AM HERE FOR IT.  She definitely makes me miss New York every time I tune in!

Stephanie is a Natural Hair and Lifestyle Blogger that I met.. ON PERISCOPE!  Yes, I am actually meeting Curlfriends and Naturalistas on Periscope faster than I ever have on Instagram or through my Blog.  This sweetheart is always sharing some health conscious recipes or wellness options perfect for the working Mom.  To top it off, her mane is gorgeous so you will likely find yourself just staring at those curls the whole time.  She's definitely someone I wish I had met sooner but I'm thankful to Periscope for bringing us together.

In just a matter of mere weeks Nicole has not only mastered the Scope but gained a HUGE following, and for good reason.  The girl is all about sharing her tips on Monetizing YOUR LIFE.  Your ENTIRE life.  She has a dynamic personality that will have you smiling at her during the whole Scope.  The Periscope community has even dubbed her "ScOprah" due to her strong business acumen and ability to translate that into teachable skills.  Please believe, you want to sit in on these Scopes and learn a thing or two about how to earn all those coins.

Kim is a Fashion Blogger that I recently started following on Instagram after the Return of the Curls Natural Hair Weekend 2015 in Hampton, VA.  Hearing her speak on the panels was a breath of fresh air as she dished it all the way REAL.  Her discussions on Periscope are no different!  She tackles many of the same topics as other Bloggers/Personalities but without the fluff.  So, if I see her pop on to discuss a topic that I really need the scoop on, I definitely tune and invite ALL of my followers.

One main thing that draws me to certain people on Periscope is their ability to interact and be personable.  There are tons of people on Periscope that have a huge following but their personalities do not come across well on Periscope.  The obvious difference is that Periscope is LIVE which means there's no editing or voice overs.  I honestly thought the rawness of my own personality would not translate well on Periscope but I was totally wrong.  At this point, I am drawn to Periscope more than YouTube these days but let's not forget... YouTube is still video KING. LOL.

Goals for Year 31

Monday was my first official day home after resigning my corporate 9-5 job last month.  Call me an over thinker but the fact that I'm starting this new adventure at just about the same time as I am starting a new year of life (yesterday was my birthday) doesn't feel like a coincidence.  As I think about what I anticipate over this next year and how I will grow in this business venture, I can appreciate the valleys I was in to get here.  It would be great to think that my husband and I sat down one day and was like 'okay, you can quit your job'.  The way our finances are set up, it was far from that depiction but when I woke up this morning I had so much joy and gratefulness in my heart.  The struggle, tears, depression and self doubt I went through seems so minor now compared to the journey I am about to embark on.

5 Goals for Year 31

Give more of myself to God and better my spiritual relationship with Him
Invest more time into my Family
Improve my Health with better Eating and Exercise Habits
Grow my Online Community across all Platforms
Increase the Revenue produced from my Blog

That's really all the goals I have for this next year.  A lot is required for each of the above items and I want to make sure that I am giving quality effort to them.  Not to mention, the benefits that will come from reaching each of these goals will in turn create a number of new tasks.  It's not necessary to always make HUGE lists of goals because many times we find ourselves so overwhelmed with the tasks that we end up throwing in the towel or not truly giving each goal quality effort.  This was not intended to be a super lengthy post but I'm sure many people were probably wondering what's to come now that I've resigned and I wanted to address that curiosity.  This is going to be a long, bumpy, exciting, anxious yet fun ride and I'm glad to have you guys riding shotgun with me.

#ManiMonday: Essie 'Come Here'

Mani Monday this week is brought to you by Essie 'Come Here'.  This shade reminds me a lot of OPI Cajun Shrimp but with a bit more pink in it.  It's a really nice bright hue to apply to freshly tanned skin that will POP.  This formula is slightly thicker than other shades I have from Essie but I also believe that it may have been dried out a little prior to me using which happens sometimes when you buy at the drugstore.  'Come Here' is a shade exclusive to Walgreens and I've done the legwork for you to prove this true, LMAO.  I went to CVS and Target looking for it before finally landing at Walgreens and finding it.  At least it was worth the search!

What shade are you ladies rocking on your nails this week?  Share below! XOXOMCS.
